SCG CEO Letter 2020

Robbie Burns Reviews 2020, Shares his key Experiences of 2020 and Provides an Outlook for 2021

As Christmas draws near it is a good time to reflect on a year filled with innovation, agility and transformation which for all of us has become key to dealing with the present and thriving in the future. For SCG, 2020 was year was filled with growth and meeting critical challenges and I am proud of how our team strived to help our clients deal with their huge pressures and needs. From digitalisation advice, to rapid solution deployments and technical support, we helped over 20 clients by ‘going the extra mile’ and being true to our ethos of being a ‘true digital partner’.

In February we continued our platform rollout and launched our new car finance solution on our Compare CarStore sites in Trinidad and Jamaica, in May we launched ApplyOn Insurance for regional insurers and in November we launched ApplyOn Finance for banks, credit unions and non-bank lenders across the Caribbean. All of these are 100% designed and built in the Caribbean using our proprietary technology which is something I’m particularly proud of.

We built a wave of momentum around our digitalization platforms that enable financial services providers to digitalise customer onboarding and acquisition and the onset of Covid restrictions made it the right time to be offering this tech to the market. As a result of the growth in ApplyOn and our new investments in Insurance Technology in December we closed a seed-investment round which further enables us to expand in 2021 with new roles in software development, operations and business development in our offices in Ireland and Trinidad & Tobago.

Our technology is born out of over 10 years of experience in digital sales and acquiring for financial service providers in the Caribbean. We know that having robust digital customer onboarding and acquiring is a game-changer for our clients, and having a customer driven user-experience is the critical factor in achieving success because without adopting by customers any project will not success.

There is also a huge benefit from digitalising sales and onboarding as it enables staff to onboard and acquire customers remotely, easily and with limited training and support while it also improves data, security and analytics for management. Most of all it is deployed quickly, cost effectively and offers long term flexibility and scalability to meet any demands and has been battle tested this year by the demands of Covid 19 and stood up to the test.

We are committed to providing our customers with industry-leading sales and onboarding software at every turn and this year we improved our KYC, ratings and agent portal solutions and have a full roadmap of exciting enhancements planned for 2021. Looking ahead to 2021 we will also be focusing on significant expansion, especially into Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean, as well as further growing the SCG team.

I would personally like to thank all our team members who I am so proud of, we could not have accomplished what we have achieved this year without their efforts. The support from our ever–increasing customer base and the trust, advice and guidance of our network and investors have all played their own part in our success.
